Celebrating 30 Years
The first Eyam Half Marathon was held in 1993 and became a firm favourite on the road racing calendar before road subsidence meant an enforced three-year absence, add on a couple more years for Covid19 and the race successfully returned in October 2021. The ‘Rat Race’ returned to it’s regular May date in 2022.

It’s organised by a group of volunteers in Eyam, and the half marathon and other fund-raising events have so far raised more than £150,000 for local cancer charities and village organisations. Community groups based in Eyam, Abney and Bretton can apply for funding via form.jotform.com/212847135601350.Thousands more has been raised in sponsorship by individual runners for a range of good causes.
We know it’s a tough race but we like to think it’s also one of the friendliest. We wouldn’t be able to without the support of a host of people who so generously give their energy, time, talent and so much more to help make Eyam Half Marathon the iconic event it is.
